Hello Alysia,
I've been reading the comments that have been posted on the Mid-semester feedback post on your blog. I would first like to compliment you on wanting to better the class not only for those who will be taking the course next semester, but to us taking the class this semester. I think that if you apply some of the suggestions from your blog post and apply it to our lecture this semester, it would be a great learning opportunity for everyone in the class.
Thanks for your time,
Cory L.

Your idea of applying the suggestions makes the class much more definitive because then the class will focus more on what we need to learn about and less about the stuff that is just review. The only setback that I see from this though is that this class is meant to be the prototype for all engineers to take at some point and by narrowing down the curriculum to suggestions of the higher end, this eliminates the experience that some other students may need from this.
ReplyDeleteAs a suggestion for future classes, I would say that there should be differing classes that are orientated towards the specific difficencies of the students. For example, have one class that is orientented for students who are not very good presentors.
Hi Cory,
ReplyDeleteGreat email length! Personally, I'm really picky with email length, as I get bored and annoyed with long emails.
I think it's very courteous of you to thank for the time as well; its something I usually keep in mind as well.
Your message to Prof. Watkins was well composed. You used complete sentences, expressed your thoughts clearly, and you conveyed the message very concisely. These written communication skills will be very important when you write formal documents and reports in a desk job. Take good care of them.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I still need to improve my communication skills. Though my written communications skills are fairly developed, verbal communication tends to be more challenging for me and I often struggle in expressing my thoughts clearly and fluently. I’m hoping that my exposure to fellow students like you will help me overcome some of the hurdles I face in interpersonal conversations.
Dear Cory,
ReplyDeleteI agree with Charlie when he wrote that your email was a great length. Being brief and to the point often receives a better response than a lengthy, repetitive email. In my opinion I think it would be more helpful to Alysia if you specified which feedback you would like to see being used in class. Ideally she would incorporate all of our feedback into a new curriculum, however that is not very probably.
